I can’t argue with the fact that talk show host Raven-Symoné has said some off the wall things the past few years, but as the saying goes “even broken clocks are right twice a day”. I came across a recent taping of The View and the discussion centered around the recent shootings in Minnesota, Baton Rouge and Dallas.
“Put your money in other companies that support who you are as a person,” she said. “It’s said by 2017 there’s going to be $1.3 trillion buying power in the Black community alone. If you took that away from certain people, don’t you think that would make change? If you took that money away?”
Wait? Is she saying Black people should protest with their economic strength? Never thought I would see the day that I would post on my blog that I AGREE with something Raven-Symoné has said. However, this is the truth!
As I have reiterated on this blog many times, it was April 3, 1968 that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. called on us to redistribute the pain through economic withdrawal since our oppressor refused to put “fair treatment and justice” for us on their agenda. Last year during his national tour leading up to the 10.10.15 Justice Or Else! gathering in D.C., The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan resurrected the real Dr. King and in his name, called for us to redistribute the pain by boycotting economically from Black Friday to the beginning of this year. He also urged us to circulate the Black dollar within our community. Are you ready to participate?
